A Wild and Windy Opening Week at Battle Abbey

Its Friday of the Cold Smoke Week at Battle Abbey.  We have had plenty of cold smoke and plenty of wind!  We made it over to the King's Backside for one run on the first day and since then have been skiing the trees in Butters Creek.  There is about 70cm of storm snow, so skiing is good.  We even skied a new line which we christened 'Heathen's Heaven.'  It has a distinctive gate way entrance and leads in to two large boulder fields that take you to valley bottom.

We're enjoying the new features at the lodge, new dining room, insulated Ballroom, new Pumphouse, new power system.  The lodge is warmer and more roomy.  Love it.

Now we're waiting to see what the weathe brings today, more local trees or a trip to Schooner Pass?  Flying on Saturday, who knows.  Looks like an endless pulse of snow is on the way.
